Empowering Students with Support

Yangon Academy provides an integrated approach in supporting the well-being of all students. Support programs include personal and academic counseling and social and emotional skills development.  Additionally, for our high school students and families, we assist with career and university counseling, through college preparation and advisory courses.

Personal & Academic Counseling

  • Individual academic counseling – supporting students and families when learning issues arise

  • Individual social/emotional counseling – supporting students as they experience personal, social or mental stressors

  • Individual college/career counseling – supporting student efforts to apply to and prepare for university

  • Classroom guidance – empowering students with self-knowledge, coping strategies, and empathy and life skills

Family/Parents Counseling

  • Crisis counseling – assisting and supporting students and families in crisis

  • Information sessions for parents – including topics such as personal safety, college preparation, university admissions, and Internet/social-media use

Career/College Advisory

  • High school years prepare students for university transition, starting from Grade 9 to matriculation by Grade 12

  • School counselor works with students and parents using personal and career assessment tools for life after high school

  • Maia Learning is a specialized digital platform to help student manage the university application process

Parent/Student Apps

  • PlusPortals is a secure web-based platform that provides students and parents with access to their grades, scores, attendance, schedule, and homework, as well as school announcements, alerts, and a combined calendar.

  • For mobile access, download ParentPlus for parents and StudentPlus for students from the Google Play or Apple App Store.

Additional 3rd party Apps

  • Zoom is a cloud-based video conferencing service you can use to virtually meet with others - either by video or audio-only or both, all while conducting live chats.

  • Seesaw is the best classroom platform for meaningful student engagement

  • Loom is a video recording tool that helps teachers get their message across through instantly shareable videos. Students do NOT need to create an account. Accessible via Internet browser and/or App for mobile devices.
